Welcome to Kindergarten!

Dear Families,

What an exciting start to this school year! I am so happy to be sharing this school year with you and your child. I will spend the first week in our new space teaching and reinforcing rules and procedures of our classroom so that learning will progress smoothly. We are in a unique spot for a bit so I want to spend some time acclimating to our new space! Hopefully by January we will be in a real classroom!

I hope that together we can help your child have a successful Kindergarten experience! With the support of students and families, we will create a classroom environment that will recognize and respect individuality. To support each student’s learning, I will create a classroom that offers a variety of meaningful teaching styles so that each child will have the opportunity to succeed. The children will grow and learn at their own rate. I invite you to play an active role in your child’s education by talking with your child each day about their learning and encourage you to read for at least 15 minutes a day with your child.

Here is a little info about me! I graduated from Central Washington University with my bachelors in Elementary Education and my minor in Early Childhood Education. I come to Evergreen from Lake View Elementary where I taught Kindergarten. I have two kiddos of my own, my son is a second grader and my daughter is a kindergartener at Lake View! So this year I get the unique perspective of being a kinder teacher and parent. I also love to sing and dance so get ready for some home performances! J

Communication is key in my classroom!  Please always feel free to email me at Judd@auburn.wednet.edu if you have any questions or concerns.

Snack: We will have an afternoon snack daily.  Please pack a healthy snack with your child each day.  The snack should be something they are able to open independently. If you want your child to receive
snack from me please help our snack supply by sending .a snack that is easy to pass out (Goldfish, Cheese-Its, Animal Crackers, etc).

Birthdays: Birthdays are special days and we love celebrating them! In an effort to encourage and promote healthy lifestyles we encourage you to send healthy birthday treat alternatives when celebrating your child's special day! If you want to send a treat with your child please make sure you send enough for all students.

Show and Share: Your child will have a specific day of the week where they will be able to bring an item (or share about a specific event) to school for "Show and Share". Please mark your calendar and help your child remember their day as there will not be make up days if they forgot to bring an item. We will begin Show and Share min October!

Teacher Website: This might be my favorite thing this year! I will be updating my website frequently with pictures and tid bits about what is going on in our classroom! I have it set up so you can receive updates that I post to your email, text alert communications, online volunteer sign ups and more! I also have a page where I will be uploading important documents that you can print at home if they get misplaced from school to home! :)

Just remember that my door is always open and we will work together throughout the year to ensure a successful year for your child.  Let the fun-filled learning begin!

Sincerely,

Jessica Udd
